The game is tough as nails, and you never know what awaits you around the corner. While Hyper Light Drifter looks gorgeous with its bright colors and fantastically detailed pixel art, don't think it's a comforting and calm world.
Just doing this refills both your health and ammo, so take advantage of it. Whenever you see a teleportation pad, make sure to stand on it. The medkits do recharge after a while, but you'll still need to manage resources wisely for the best chance of survival. Since health packs come in limited quantities, especially in the beginning, you need to think about the right time to heal. We're talking about slivers of health left, not just when you have a small chip in your health bar. They're pretty hard to come by, since you need to explore every space carefully for them, so it's recommended to only heal when you absolutely have to.
While you can heal at any time by pressing your L button, you'll need to make sure that you have enough health packs to do so. Think of it as similar to games like Dark Souls and Bloodborne, except in a beautiful and colorful pixel world. As far as I see the slash hits enemies on the path, but do you go them (i.e. Is the big slash from Weapons guy worth it? It blocks bullets fine but apparently not all projectiles since west frog's shurikens seem to go through it. It only really blocks if you dash into the (which is fine I guess). So I ended up grabbing the upgrade that shields you from projectiles while you dash but am a bit dissapointed. I grabbing the chain dash first is a no-brainer but I am a bit confused about what to get next. Figured it would be nice to compile some more info on what each does and how well it works. Hi, I have been getting a tad frustrated at lack of info given about the upgrades before you buy them, especially since money is not that easy to come by.
